Bugger!!!!! I'm sure you are a valuable addition to the cheer squad, but I'm sorry to hear your news. At least you know now and won't be tempted to run and see how it goes.
You are now entering a phase in your training called mental toughness training.
Being injured really sucks. But there are positives. Think of all the strength training you can do. I will put you to the "punch in the belly" test next time I see you, so beware.
Hang in there buddy. And make sure you stay in the loop.
PS From what I've seen of the weather down there you picked a good time to be injured :)
I am soooo sorry to hear that Gronk. But I have no doubt that you will be a worthy addition to the cheersquad. Besides, just think you an excuse not to get out of bed on those cold, wet winter mornings. Ok, I know I'm grasping at straws :-(
Oh man I wish it wasn't. Hope it heals fast and we can see you back training again in the spring. I guess the shin splints will heal up as well now. Chin up mate you can still swim/ride etc. Just no weight bearing. Cheers mate.
Mate what a shit diagnosis. Sorry I don't read your blog that often but I could have saved you $300 by telling you that you got it around the wrong way. Bone scans are cheap 50 bucks tops, they are mostly covered by medicare. MRIs are expensive as they are not covered by medicare unless referred by an orthopaedic surgeon. In any case to get a "cheap" MRI you need to see the surgeon ($150) then go to a medicare approved facility and pay the gap ($550-$300=$250). So a total of $350 for a medicare covered MRI. Also MRIs are not the best way of deducing stress fractures anyway. So in future go to the GP and demand a bone scan referral.
Additionally, the location of your stress fracture is identical to my very first stress fracture. Check out the skeleton on this webpage http://www.geocities.com/gnscon/
Listen to the advice from Flake and me as we've both been there more than we would like. BTW When riding don't stand up as that is weight bearing.
Thanks for your comment Gronk. You are certainly right - after all that you & I have been through, it must be our turn! Let's hope it's soon. And when our turn arrives, let's go for a run together to celebrate. How are you going?
Sorry to hear that mate :( Make sure you take it easy and heal super quick

bad luck...just make sure you do all the right things (i know you will)...
good time to try new things!
That's bad news. At least you know what you have.
64 days seems a bit excessive. I would have thought 6 weeks for a low grade (or less).
If you want to do something besides cheering, get a floatation vest and try the water running thing. Em can give you some tips.
How can this possibly be?? So sorry, Gronk. By the time you're my age, you'll have forgotten all about the fracture! Keep smilin'!
:(
Sorry to hear that mate. Hope it heals up well and look forward to seeing you back into it again soon. Keep the fire burning!
Ouch..... Time will heal....
That sucks.
I look forward to your triumphant return in the Spring, Gronk.
Cheers,
Ben
How ya going dude? My thoughts are with you.
