It's oh so quite

Week 5 of 15

Nothing much happening here. No run on Wednesday because my toe hurt. Last night I was kitted up at 7.00pm only the running gods decided to put on a 2 hour lightening show. By the time it was safe to contemplate galavanting about, I was quite settled watching the TV with The Bride.

At least I'll be fresh for Striders in the morning.

Just on the sore toe, Dr Ewen diagnosed gout. Wikipedia says that it effects mainly men between ages of 40-50 (tick), usually attacks big toe in 75% of cases (tick) and "..is more common in affluent societies due to a diet rich in proteins, fat, and alcohol." (oh dear a whole bunch of ticks there). Hmmm you might be onto something there Ewen...

of course! Well done Dr Ewen! My uncle gets gout and so do my cousins (his daughters) despite the fact they are only in their 30's. Sounds very painful. Didn't stop him training for and running London marathon though :)

Thanks Owly. I really hope it's not gout. A runner I know had it in December - foot got so painful he couldn't walk. He's back now though.

Perhaps some less than wise person put a curse on you? ;)

Good luck in the morning. You should fly in such a tapered state ;-)
